Informazioni
Connubio degli stili romanico e bizantino, la cattedrale di Troia, nota come Concattedrale della Beata Vergine Maria Assunta in Cielo, rappresenta il fulcro della diocesi Lucera-Troia. Rappresentativo è soprattutto il rosone, composto da undici colonnine adagiate su un tamburo di pietra lavorata, creando un ornamento raffigurante un serpente che si morde la coda, dando così l'illusione dell'eternità.
Ulteriori simbolismi sono rappresentati dalla pianta planimetrica, indicante il corpo umano, e l'abside asimmetrica, che ricorda il capo inclinato del Cristo crocifisso.
Tra le caratteristiche peculiari del duomo di Troia vi è infine l'utilizzo del bronzo per la realizzazione delle porte, presente solo in poche chiese antiche italiane.
